Privacy policy

The short version: the DockerLinux course is free and works without giving us anything. Your progress is stored only in your own browser. If you choose to subscribe for updates, we keep your email address (and the optional details you give) to email you about new levels and advanced training — nothing else. We never sell or share it, and you can unsubscribe or ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are
DockerLinux (dockerlinux.com) is run by Vitor Micillo, who is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@dockerlinux.com.
Using the course (no account needed)
Everything you do in the terminal happens in your browser. Your progress (levels, XP, quiz answers,
the simulated files and containers, your settings) is saved in your browser's local storage
(dockerlinux:save) so it's there when you come back. It never leaves your device and is not sent
to us. You can delete it at any time with "Reset progress" in the sidebar or by clearing your browser's site data.
We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
If you subscribe
When you fill in the "Get free updates" form, we collect:
- your email address (required);
- your first name and your learning goal, if you choose to give them;
- how far you got in the course, and where you signed up (for example "after level 2");
- a record of your consent: the exact wording you agreed to and the date and time;
- a one-way hash of your IP address, kept for up to 24 hours to stop spam (we don't store the IP itself).
Why: to email you about new DockerLinux levels and early access to future advanced (possibly paid) training, and to understand what learners want so we can build the right things. Legal basis: your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Who processes the data
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the database where subscriptions are stored.
- Buttondown (our email service, if enabled) stores your email and details, sends the confirmation email and our updates, and handles unsubscribing.
These providers may process data outside the UK; they use recognised safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for international transfers.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you never confirm your subscription, or you unsubscribe, we delete your details within 90 days (we may keep a minimal record that you unsubscribed so we never email you again).
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it — just email hello@dockerlinux.com. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, if you're subscribed, let you know by email.
